You Are My Sunshine

This week I’m going to suggest a song that is most likely familiar to anyone and everyone. Because the song’s title and tempo suggest a happy sunny theme, we are inclined to join in with this sing-a-long favourite with enthusiasm and happiness akin to enjoying a mound of cotton candy. “You Are My Sunshine”, written in 1939 was and still is one of the most famous tunes in the world! If you listen closely to the words in the verses, you’ll be a bit surprised by the road they take. Great songs have great lyrics that make you ponder and this one is no exception.

This song is a perfect addition to your class playlist that can be inserted at a point when you want that little lift to bring everyone together in the way only “You are My Sunshine” can. Great chair dance exercise starter too!
